Today is our 29th wedding anniversary.
I was 16 when I met him — the love of my life, my best friend, my favorite human. He makes me laugh, sometimes cry, and every once in a while I want to toss something at him. You know, real love. We’re not perfect — not even close — but we’re still choosing each other. Every day.
We almost skipped celebrating this year.
Again.
We’ve gotten into the habit of pushing the big celebration off.
“We’ll do something fun next year.”
“This isn’t the best time.”
“Maybe we’ll go big for our 30th.”
But this year, we caught ourselves mid-push-off and decided nope.
We’re doing it.
No flights. No stress. Just a little luxury, a little pampering, and a whole lot of Chicago.
Because if you didn’t already know — I’m obsessed with this city. I’ve seen so much of the world, and Chicago is still my favorite. The energy, the food, the lake, the skyline… I’ll never get tired of it.
So we’re off for a local adventure.
A little unexpected. A little indulgent.
And honestly? Just right.
And here’s why I’m telling you this:
There’s probably something you’ve been putting off.
Not because it’s impossible, but because it felt… impractical.
A trip. A day off. A long bath with fancy salts and no guilt.
Something that feels extra. Or unnecessary. Or “maybe next year.”
But what if now is exactly the right time?
Your invitation this week:
Say yes to one of those things.
The one that lights you up for no logical reason.
The one that makes you say, “Wait, are we really doing this?”
Yes. Yes, you are.
And on the podcast this Wednesday, I’ll share more about our little getaway, our shenanigans (I'm trying to bring back this word. It really should be used much much more) — and why sometimes the best kind of celebration is the one you stop waiting for.
Happy anniversary to us.
And happy “I’m doing the thing” energy to you.
xo
