this might not be a you problem

It’s wild how fast we assume we’re the problem.

Welcome to this week’s Thought Gem — your reminder to pause, breathe, and choose your focus.

And once you notice that… you can’t really unsee it.

More discipline. Better habits. Stronger mindset. Earlier bedtime. More water. A green juice. A personality transplant.

I’m kidding. Sort of.

But really, I do think a lot of us have been trained to respond to our own stress like it’s a character flaw. Like if we were just a little more evolved, a little more healed, a little more on top of it, we’d be handling everything beautifully.

Meanwhile your body is over there doing the absolute most trying to keep up, keep you safe, and get your attention.

And that part is hard to ignore once you see it.

What if some of what we call overthinking or procrastination or shutting down isn’t random? What if your system is actually telling you something useful and you’ve just gotten very good at overriding it?

I’ve definitely done that. You probably have too. We push through, keep going, tell ourselves we’re fine, and then act surprised when our body is like, adorable, but no.

So here’s something to try this week.
The next time you catch yourself getting frustrated with yourself, pause for a second before you start the internal lecture. Just check in. What’s happening in your body right now? Is your jaw tight? Is your chest heavy? Are you holding your breath? Do you suddenly need a snack, a nap, a walk, a moment, a witness, a different life?

Just notice.

We’re going to talk more about this on the podcast this week. It’s such a good conversation about the nervous system, body wisdom, and why change gets a whole lot easier when you stop fighting yourself.

Catch you Wednesday,
