re-entry is a thing

re-entry is a thing

I just got back from Colorado. Thirty years of marriage, mountains, elk (lots and lots of elk) and a trip I will not stop talking about for the foreseeable future. It was exactly what I needed.

And then I got home.

Welcome to this week's Thought Gem — your reminder to pause, breathe, and choose your focus.

You know that specific feeling when you've been completely away from your life, really away, present, unplugged, and then you walk back in the door and everything that was waiting for you is still there? The emails. The tasks. The mental list of all the things you were going to get to when you got back. It all just picks right back up, like it barely noticed you were gone.

I don't think this is a scheduling problem. I think this is a high-achiever problem. We don't actually know how to come down. We rest, and then we feel the pull to make up for the rest.

This week I’m talking to Erika Coleman, someone who figured out what’s actually going on underneath all of that.

Your invitation for this week:
Give yourself one more day of Colorado. Not literally, but mentally. Before you start making up for the time away, ask yourself if there's anything from that quieter version of you worth keeping.

Catch you Wednesday,
xo Tracy

P.S. Standing in front of those mountains, I wondered how many of these places Kristy Halvorsen visited during her travels. I wanted to message her and ask! And I thought about the freedom she’s created to explore the world on her own terms.

That’s one of the reasons I’m so looking forward to our evening with Kristy on November 12. We’re getting together to talk about her book, Perfect Unfolding, and ask her all the questions her story brings up. Whether you’ve read the book or you’re simply curious about the life she’s created, we’d love to have you join the conversation.
